- The Hawthornden Prize is one of the oldest and most distinguished literary prizes in England. It was founded in 1919 by Alice Warrender and is now administered by the Hawthornden Trust of London. The award honors the most imaginative work of fiction or nonfiction published in England for the preceding year. Winners since 1990 are listed in NoveList
